Omnibenevolence

Task 1: Read this quote..

“The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”

Task 2: Write in your own words what you think the message of this quote is. Look up the meaning of any words you are unsure about.

Some people do not believe in God, and some people believe that if God exists then he would not be a loving God because of all the evil that happens in the world.

Task 3: Watch this video.

Task 4: Create a mind map of reasons where people believe evil comes from.

Task 5: Some people believe that God has caused physical, emotional and psychological pain to many millions of people.. Give a list of five reasons why someone may think this (what is the evidence for this claim?). Give a list of five reasons why someone may disagree with this claim (why would someone say that God is not evil, but loving instead).
